Monsoon death toll 78 in Marathawada

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 29 (UNI) Seventy eight people have died since the onset of Monsoon in Marathawada region of Central Maharashtra which has recorded 129.2 mm of rainfall till date.

The region comprising of eight districts has recorded a total of 78 deaths since the beginning of monsoon, of which 73 people died due to lightning and remaining due to rain related mishaps, official sources at the divisional commissionerate said.

As per the district-wise information available at the divisional commissionerate here, Hingoli district has recorded highest rainfall of 162.7 mm followed by Aurangabad 158.3 mm, Nanded 132.7 mm, Jalna 130.3 mm, Osmanabad 130.2 mm, Latur 119 mm, Parbhani 106.3 and Beed 94.4 mm.

As per the daily rainfall figures of the region, Hingoli has recorded highest rainfall of 82.2 mm followed by Nanded at 61.1 mm, Parbhani 28.6 mm, Beed 13.1 mm, Latur 12.5 mm, Osmanabad 8 mm, Jalna 7.3 mm and Aurangabad 7 mm respectively.

Jintur in Parbhani and Vasmat, Kalamnuru and Aundha in Hingoli district has recorded heavy rainfall today similarly, Ardhapur, Bhokar, Umri, Kinwat, Hatgaon and Himayatnagar in Nanded district also received heavy rainfall today, official sources said.
