Srinagar, June 29 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today decided to appoint 840 physical education teachers in various middle schools of the state and 199 groundmen and orderlies in the youth services and sports department.
An official spokesman said 1126 posts of physical education teachers in high schools and 386 posts of physical education lecturers in higher secondary institutions have also been upgraded.
He said this was decided at a joint clearance committee meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh here.
With this, the state government has met the long-pending demand of the trained and unemployed physical education graduates.
Giving a big boost to the sports activities in the state, the spokesman said the government also decided to give the youth services and sports department a major face-lift.
The re-organisation scheme encompassed upgradation and re-designation of executive positions, he added.
The spokesman said the posts of deputy directors have been upgraded to the level of joint directors while as posts of assistant director (planning and statistics) and accounts officer have also been created for the first time in the department.
Similarly, the district heads of the department have been upgraded to the level of other district officers, he added.
