IT companies in AP have higher growth rate: Reddy
Hyderabad, Jun 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said IT companies in the state had registered 51 per cent growth in 2005-06 fiscal against the national average of 36 per cent.
Reviewing the activities of IT and Communications (ITC) Department here, he said IT companies registered an export turnover of Rs 12,500 crore as against Rs 8270 crore in 2004-05.
He said there was an increase in additional investments made by companies in the state to an extent of Rs 1760 crore during 2005-06 compared to Rs 808 crore in the previous year.
Officials informed Dr Reddy the department was mooting attracting new companies into the state through creation of adequate built up space, providing quality manpower and creating proper infrastructure.
With regard to Human Resouces Development in IT for providing suitable candidates with required skills to IT industry, the concept of Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKC) were being extended to Degree Colleges from this academic year, he said.
