New Delhi, June 29 (UNI) A three-day international leather fair, jointly organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), will be held here from July 1.

More than 125 leading companies will showcase their products for buyers with a representation from 29 foreign companies from China, Italy, France, Thailand and Kenya at the Delhi International Leather Fair (DILF) 2006.

Various aspects of the leather industry would be encompassed in the fourteenth edition of the event to showcase finished leather, footwear and its components, machinery and equipment, chemicals, publications and consultancy services.

The fair would provide an opportunity to the Indian buyers to engage in joint ventures, prospect for technology transfer and augment their supply sources.

The Indian leather industry, the eight largest foreign exchange earner in the country, has shown a 12 per cent annual growth for the last two years and touched an all-time high export of 2.379 million dollars in 2004-05.

Moreover, an interactive meeting with senior government officials has been planned to explain about the policies and schemes.

Union Minister of State Jairam Ramesh will inaugurate the fair.
