Inter University Board chairman demand better pay

Patna, June 29 (UNI) Bihar Inter University Board (BIUB) chairman Dr. Bilat Paswan Bihangam today sought state governor R.S. Gawais intervention for fixation of his pay scale at par with vice- chancellor of any state university.

Mr. Bihangam, also a Padma Shree awardee, told newspersons here that the state cabinet had already approved pay scale of Rs. 25,000 for the BIUB chairman on March 22, 2006 and the finance department had also not objected to the payment of higher pay scale to the post.

He said the bureucratic hassles were, however, coming in way of payment of new pay scale.

He said he had raised the issue with state chief minister Nitish Kumar and state education minister Brishen Patel also in this regard.

Mr. Bihangam said the present salary of the BIUB chairman was only Rs. 7,600 per month, a salary being withdrawn even by a government peon.

He said the government should provide new pay scale to the BIUB chairman and employees by an ordinance.

He said the government should initiate suitable steps without any further loss of time for ensuring revised pay scale to the BIUB chairman and its other employees.
