Rameswaram, June 29: Seventeen more Tamil refugees arrived here from Sri Lanka this morning, in the wake of mounting clashes between the military troops and the LTTE in the island nation.

The refugees included seven men, five women, three boys and two girls.

They had reached Dhanushkodi from Trincomallee in boats.

After checking their identities, they were sent to Mandapam camp.

Police said the influx of refugees, which was low-key in the last few days due to renewed hope of resumption of peace talks, picked up in the last two days as fear-stricken Tamils decided to move out.
