HP to be projected as major tourist attractions during Commonwealth

Shimla, June 29 (UNI) The Centre has included Himachal Pradesh in the list of major tourist attractions of the country that would be projected during the Commonwealth Games in 2010, State Transport Minister G S Bali said today.

''HP will be projected as one of the tourists places of attraction during the Games,'' he said after his meeting with the Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni.

Mr Bali said Union Tourism Ministry and Commonwealth Games Organising Committee would sponsor players and officials to visit state during the Games.

This would acquaint them with the rich cultural heritage of the state, natural and scenic beauty and adventures sports facilities, he said.

He said the Centre would provide liberal financial assistance to the state government to create modern infrastructure and other facilities and to project Himachal as a major tourist destination of the country.

The Centre has also agreed to provide liberal financial assistance to the state government for creating basic infrastructural facilities at major pilgrimage centers of the state, which were visited by hundred thousand devotees every year, he said.
