HC tells govt to complete investigation against policemen
Patna, June 29 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed Bihar government to complete investigation against policemen facing criminal cases and file an affidavit before August 3.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Sheo Kirti Singh issued the directive during hearing of a petition filed by the Bihar branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The state government informed the court that 644 police personnel were involved in criminal cases.
Earlier, the petitioner informed the court that investigation of some cases had been pending since 1987. The court had directed the state government on July 25, 2005 to complete the investigation within two months but the government failed to comply.
