Mumbai, June 29 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to file an affidavit within six weeks after inspecting cattle-sheds across Mumbai, indicating whether they were polluting the environment.

A division bench comprising justices R M Lodha and A S Bagga, while directing the MPCB to file the affidavit, also held that further hearing into the matter could not be continued since the personal interest of the petitioner, Bhagwanji Rayani of the Janhit Manch, was involved.

The court directed the MPCB to inspect the method of disposal of liquid wastes. The court was informed that solid waste was removed by the state government. The MPCB should ascertain whether the current method of solid and liquid waste disposal was causing pollution, the court directed.
