'G8 statement to urge Iran to reply soon'

Moscow, Jun 29: The Group of Eight industrialised nations will call on Iran in a statement today to respond soon to an offer by major powers over Tehran's nuclear programmes, a Western diplomat said.

''The statement will have language that we hope and expect to get an answer soon,'' the diplomat told reporters, citing the statement which was to be issued later at the end of a meeting of G8 Foreign Ministers.
