Former MNF members go underground again
Aizawl, June 29 (UNI) Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA) today said that six former Mizo National Front (MNF) ultra's have gone underground again and are ensconced in a former tactical headquarters of MNF in Bangladesh.
Mizoram government has recently planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Peace Memorandum signed between the MNF and the Union Government.
PAMRA sources said that among these six militants, who went underground, one is a former corporal in the MNF 'army' and another a former 'lieutenant' of the Mizo National Army (MNA).
The sources said the people, who have gone underground, possess necessary arms and ammunition, funded by a recently established organisation here.
PAMRA president B Zorampara was shocked on the news of their members going underground. He said the poverty-stricken situation of the MNF returnees and lack of support from the MNF government compelled them to do so.
He further added that the situation would aggravate if the government does not take interest in the welfare of the former 'freedom' fighters soon.
