CWC meet to work out strategy on price rise
New Delhi, June 29 (UNI) The Congress Working Committee is meeting here this evening to chalk out a strategy to contain the spiralling prices of essential goods to address the concerns of the common man.
The CWC, the highest policy making body of the Congress, will meet at party president Sonia Gandhi's 10 Janpath residence at 1700 hrs, party sources said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, besides the 20 CWC members and 13 permanent invitees, will attend the meeting, which will be chaired by Ms Gandhi. The meet will be followed by a press briefing.
This is perhaps the first time that the CWC has been convened with the sole agenda to deliberate on the issue of soaring prices.
Today's CWC meeting follows the feedback received by the Congress leadership about the effect of rising prices on the people. Several party leaders and workers have called for evolving a strategy to provide relief to the common man.
