Jaipur, June 29 (UNI) A super 'Royal Luxury Train', which is expected to be more lavish than Palace on Wheels (PoW), will chug in Rajasthan from 2008.
This royal train will be the first private-public partnership venture in the state. The East India Hotel (Oberoi chain) will have 60 percent stakes while the Indian Railway and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) will have 40 percent stakes in the venture.
Around Rs 60 crore would be spent on the Royal Luxury Train which will be much more luxurious and lavish than the PoW.
''Endowed with royal regalia, this super-duper luxury train will be targeted at the top elite class and the fares will be 1,000 US dollars plus per day,'' RTDC MD Rakesh Saini, told UNI.
He said its route and itinerary will be the same as PoW, as it is one of the most sought after tourist routes in Rajasthan.
''The royal luxury train will be on the lines of US's premier luxury train the Orient Express,'' he added.
The state government will also start another PoW-2 from September 2007. Around Rs 30 crore will be spent on this project, which is expected to start from April 2007. The railways has already cleared the PoW-2.
