Viral fever grips Aurangabad, people hospitalised

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 28 (UNI) Several people have been hospitalised due to viral fever that has gripped this Aurangabad city in the past few days.

Aurangabad Muncipal Corporation Commissioner Aseemkumar Gupta told UNI the AMC's health department has sent over 50 blood samples to the laboratory at Pune and their results were still awaited.

Though several patients are suffering from acute headache, joint pains, high fever, symptoms of Chikun Guniya, health officials ruled out any outbreak of Chikun Guniya in the city.

Sources at Deputy Director Health office here said they were still awaiting reports of a survey conducted in the district.

Meanwhile, authorities at the AMC have taken various preventive measures, including fogging and cleanliness drive, to prevent the spread of the disease.

The AMC has decided to launch a special campaign in the city to offer medical assistance to the poor and needy people suffering from viral fever, Mr Gupta told UNI.

This is the second time since March this year, that several people have taken ill due to viral fever in the district.
