Train tickets tampering racket unearthed
Mumbai, June 28 (UNI) The Central Railways authorities recently unearthed a racket in train ticket tampering.
During a check at the Lokmanya Tilak terminus on June 17, the ticket checking staff came across a party holding five unreserved card tickets issued from Darbhanga station of North Eastern railway.
It was found that short distance second class ordinary tickets were misused by erasing the destination and replacing it for longer distance, a press release here said.
The fare, date, class and kilometre and route were also erased and replaced with the new desired route.
In another incident, a special check was conducted in train number 2442 New Delhi -Bilaspur Rajdhani Express on June 8 at Nagpur. During the checking, six bottles of liquor were seized from the possession of a coach attendant who was working for a New Delhi-based private contractor, the release said.
