Train services cancelled for gauge conversion work
Chennai, Jun 28 (UNI) Train services on the Pudukkottai-Karaikudi, Tambaram-Rameswaram and Manamadurai-Rameswaram sections will be cancelled consequent to the closure of the Pudukkottai-Karaikudi metre gauge section with effect from July one and Manamadurai-Rameswaram section from July 15 for gauge conversion work.
A Southern Railway press release said here today that all the passenger trains on the Pudukkottai-Karaikudi and Manamadurai-Rameswaram sections and the Tambaram-Rameswaram-Tambaram Sethu Express would be fully cancelled.
With effect from July 15, the Tambaram-Rameswaram Express will run up to Karaikudi and the Rameswaram-Ambaram Express will start from Karaikudi instead of Rameswaram.
However, there will not be any changes in arrival and departure timings of the Tiruturaipoondi-Mayiladuthurai, Karaikudi-Mayiladuthurai, Karaikudi-Manamadurai and Manamadurai-Virudunagar passengers in both the directions, the release added.
