TDP leader attacked

Chittoor, Jun 28 (UNI) A Telegu Desam leader and sarpanch of Murkambattu village in Chittoor rural mandal was seriously injured when he was allegedly attacked by political rivals here last evening.

Police said , Mr Sampath who was campaigning for the MPTC candidate in the village was attacked by his rivals, who were also canvassing in the same village.

Mr Sampath was admitted to Government Hospital here and his condition was stable.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, more Police were posted at Murkambattu village following the attack.

Reacting to the incident Chittoor Telegu Desam Party MP and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthansm (TTD) Chairman D K Adikesavulu alleged that the law and order in the district had worsened in the last two years.

He said his party would intensify agitation if the police failed to arrest the persons involved in the attack.
