Shiv Sena Chief asks Shivsainiks to win BMC and TMC

Mumbai, Jun 28 (UNI) Thanking the Shiv Sainiks for their efforts to ensure the victory of Dr Deepak Sawant from the Mumbai graduates constituency, Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray urged the party workers to maintain the same tempo in the ensuing Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Thane Municipal Corporation elections.

In a statement appeared in the party mouthpiece Saamana, Mr Thackeray asked the Shivsainiks to maintain the same unity and continue their victory march in BMC and TMC elections as well.

Both the elections are due in February 2007.

Shiv Sena, which was passing through a very rough period since last one year, could get only two victories during this period. The party won one seat of legislative assembly in Srivardhan in the by-election while the second seat was of Dr Sawant.

On the other hand, it lost five assembly seats in the by-elections and also two council seats.

The party is in turmoil after the exit of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane and Mr Thackeray's Nephew Raj from the party. Both had levelled allegations against Shiv Sena Executive President and Mr Thackeray's son Uddhav.
