Seats in all GGSIPU-affiliated institutions to be increased

New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today instructed all institutions affiliated to Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha (GGSIP) University here to increase seats by five per cent in all courses.

The decision would be implemented from the current academic session, a statement said.

The institutions where increase in number of seats did not require any approval from AICTE or NCTE would enhance seats with immediate effect whereas necessary approval would be taken in case of other institutions.

Ms Dikshit expressed confidence that enhancement of seats would provide relief to Delhi students who were finding it difficult to get admission after abrupt changes in admission arrangements on account of a recent Supreme Court judgment.

Delhi students had not been getting optimal benefit of privately managed institutions under GGSIP University.

This step would go a long way in ensuring admission to students during second counselling for professional courses in colleges under the GGSIP University.
