Saner after his US Open outing, Jeev eyes success in Japan tour

Tokyo, June 28 (UNI) After testing his skills against the who's who of golfing fraternity in the US Open, a saner Jeev Milkha Singh is convinced that his American adventure would help him achieve success at the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship beginning tomorrow.

The current leader of the Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit is enjoying a stellar season, posting a victory at the European Tour-sanctioned Volvo China Open in April on his way to a total of seven top-10s thus far in 2006.

In addition, he also recently played all four rounds at the US Open, finishing in a tie for 59th, and backed it up with a tie for sixth at last week's Mizuno Open in Japan. Those results have translated into a player full of confidence heading into one of the Japan Golf Tour's flagship events.

''I've been playing well lately and I have been telling everybody that the Volvo China Open win has given me a lot of trust and a lot of belief in myself,'' Olympic sprinter Milkha Singh's son said.

"I have learned a lot from the Open two weeks ago. You have to pace yourse lf and, especially when you are playing in a big event, you are playing under a lot of stress.'' ''You do not need to hit too many balls on the practice range and you do not need to wear yourse lf out. Just like you cannot 'mug' for an exam at the end, you need to be prepared well before the tournament,'' he added.

Jeev is joined by fellow Amandeep Johl, who makes his debut at the Japan tour.
