Revenue official caught red handed with bribe in Kashmir
Srinagar, June 28 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today caught red handed a revenue official taking a bribe of Rs 5000.
A vigilance spokesman said Mansoor Ahamd Hajam, a resident of Zachaldara, Handwara in Kupwara district, had lodged a complaint that Mohammad Abdullah Gilani, a senior assistant tehsil office, Handwara demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe for getting mutation attested in revenue records.
The Vigilance Organisation registered a case and launched investigations, he added.
The spokesman said a trap was laid during and the accused taken into custody while accepting an amount of Rs 5000 from the complainant in presence of independent witnesses.
The bribe money was subsequently seized from his possession, he added.
The investigations were in progress, the spokesman said, adding this was the 25th case registered by the State Vigilance Organisation.
