Rains continue in Himachal
Shimla, Jun 28 (UNI) Rains continued to lash mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh for the second day today with Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh recording 90.4 mm of rain during the last 24 hrs, the Met office said.
Showers lashed Shimla and its adjoining areas for the second consecutive day this afternoon, while overcast conditions persisted throughout the morning, forcing locals and tourists to remain indoors.
Jogindernagar in Mandi district recorded 66 mm of rains followed by 45 mm in Nagrota Suriyan of Kangra district and 44.7 mm rain in Kasol of Bilaspur district of the state, the Met office said.
A report from Chamba said widespread heavy rains lashed several parts of the district since last night but the sky cleared out by afternoon and the sun was shining brightly.
The tribal districts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnuar and Kullu districts reported light showers during the last 24 hrs with Kalpa in Kinnuar district recording about 0.8 mm of rain till 0830 hrs.
Dharamshala has recorded 361.6 mm of rain from June 1 till date, as compared to 188.3 mm of rain recorded during the corresponding period last year, the Met office said.
Reports of rain were also received from Pandoh in Mandi district, Rampur and Mashobra in Shimla district, Nadaun in Hamirpur district and Solang Nullah in Kullu district of the state.
However, no loss of life has been reported from anywhere in the state since the rains began 48 hrs ago, official and police sources said.
The Met office has predicted isolated rains at several places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
