Punjab to achieve 100 per cent immunisation

Fatehgarh Sahib, June 28 (UNI) Punjab will achieve its target of completing the immusiation of all children up to the age of one year against six deadly diseases before March, 2007.

To meet this goal, it was decided to hold meetings with all District and Block level health officials, said Rana Harinder, Director Family Welfare, who presided over a meeting of Civil Surgeons and other health officials of Patiala, Ropar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali here yesterday.

There was no shortage of immunisation syringes or any other material anywhere in the state, which was ahead of all other states, except Karnataka, in the immunisation drive, Dr V K Goel, State Immunisation Officer said at the meeting.

Dr Rana also exhorted all the Civil Surgeons to take keen interest in programme of family welfare and stressed that all pregnant mothers should be registered and given three ante-natal check ups. They should also be educated about balanced nutritious diet and mmunisation, she said.
