Nepal's Maoists leaders meet Indian ambassador

Kathmandu, June 28: Nepal's Maoists leaders, including chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachand, today met Indian Ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee at the Indian Embassy here.

They discussed Nepal's current political situation during the one-and-A-half hour long meeting, Nepal One TV said quoting the Maoists.

''We also discussed the release of our leaders and cadres jailed in India during the meeting, spokesman for the Maoists and coordinator of the talks team Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.

India was positive on releasing the Maoists leaders and cadres, Mr Mahara told Nepal One TV channel.

This is the first time Nepal's Maoist leaders met diplomats.

Dr Baburam Bhattarai was also present at the meeting.
