NCDHR to organise a public hearing in Bangalore

Hyderabad, June 28 (UNI) In an effort to ensure justice for dalits, the an NGO will organise a public hearing in Bangalore on July three and four.

Informing this to reporters here today, National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) Andhra Pradesh Convenor K Vinayaka Kumar said more than 700 Dalit victims from Kerala, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka would depose before the jury comprising former judges and retired public servants.

Contending that over 20,000 cases of atrocities on dalits were pending in Andhra Pradesh alone, he said even the chargesheet had not not been filed in about 15,000 cases.

After hearing the woes of dalit victims, the jury would prepare a detailed case-wise report along with its observations and recommendations to the government officers concerned, he said adding that the NCDHR would exert pressure on the Government to implement the recommendations.
