National socio-economic survey begins July one

Chandigarh, June 28 (UNI) Field Operations Division(FOD) of the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) will start the nationwide year long 63rd round of the socio-economic survey from July one this year.

This was disclosed here today by NSSO (FOD) Director, Haryana region, Mr Harbinder Singh while addressing a three-day regional training conference. The conference is being held to impart training to the field staff of the organisation.

Mr Singh said that the present round of survey had been earmarked for collecting data on the economic and operational characteristics of enterprises in the service sector excluding trade and on household consumer expenditure. He said that the data collected by the organisation would be used for estimating contribution of service sector in National Income and Gross Fixed Capital Formation.

The survey will also collect data on the number of workers employed in service sector besides the economic condition of the small entrepreneurs and input-output analysis at national and state level.

Haryana Additional Economical and Statistical Advisor O P Dhankar explained the importance of collecting data on economic and operational characteristics of enterprises engaged in service sector.

The NSSO collects socio-economic data employing scientific sampling methods every year throughout the country.
