Govt confident of meeting Mittal's iron ore query

Ranchi, Jun 28: Mittal Steel has sought information on availability and quality of iron ore in Jharkhand for its proposed 12 mt green field steel plant in the state.

The world's leading steel manufacturer has also looked for suitable places for the plant near Ranchi, an informed senior government officer today said adding that a final decision in this regard would emerge only after the group furnished the detailed project report (dpr).

The Mittal group sought to know availability and quality of iron ore in the state which had forced the government to review its resource position.

The government was confident that it could provide the amount of raw materials required for the proposed Rs 400 billion project.

The proposed plant would be the first project of the Mittal group in the country.
