Militants taking Nepal route to Kashmir from PoK: Army

Srinagar, June 28: The Army today said the infiltration from the Line of Control (LoC) has become extremely difficult due to increased vigil and intensive operations by the security forces, forcing the militants to take Nepal route to Kashmir.

The Army today produced before the media two militants who had travelled all the way from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to Nepal and then crossed over to India.

Nazir Ahmed Lone, a resident of Trehgam in Kupwara district, was associated with the Tehreek-e-Jehad militant outfit while Manzoor Ahmed Lone from Rishigund in the same district belonged to Al Barq group. The two had obtained their passports, identity cards and election voter identity cards from the Pakistan government showing them as residents of PoK. Their passports had valid visa stamps from the Nepal government.

Both Nazir and Manzoor had crossed over to PoK for arms training in 2000. While Nazir travelled from Karachi to Kathmandu on May 15, Manzoor took a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to Nepal on June 10.
