Hardwar, Jun 28: With assembly elections round the corner in Uttaranchal, BSP supremo Mayawati today ruled out any possibility of a pre-poll tie up with any party.

Addressing party workers at a 'training camp' here, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister asked them to carry the party's policies and programmes to every nook and corner in the state.

Elections to the state assembly are due in February next year.

In her bid to woo the upper castes, she said the BSP espoused as much the cause of the Bahujan Samaj as of the upper castes and expressed support for any legislation on reservation for the economically poor among the upper castes.

Lashing out at the Congress, she said spiralling prices of essential commodities, delay in the implementation of quota for OBCs in institutions of higher learning and the controversy over office of profit has created political instability and pushing the country towards mid-term polls.

She demanded that the quota for the SCs/STs should be increased in proportion to their increased population in the country.

Dubbing both the Congress and the BJP as 'Manuwadi', she said that the interests of the down-trodden sections of society could never be protected under their regimes ''We should strive to win the required number of seats to form government on our own, and if we fail to do so, we should ensure that we at least emerge as a balancing factor,'' she said.
