KCF militant remanded to police custody till July 1
Phagwara Jun 28 (UNI) Khalistan Commando Force militant Kulbir Singh Bira was today remanded in police custody till July 1 by a lower court here, in the presence of Human Rights Commission representatives.
The judicial magistrate Phillaur, V K Goel, in whose court Bira was produced this morning, also fixed June 30 for the hearing of the application of SAD (A) president Simaranjit Singh Mann, seeking permission to meet the KCF militant.
The Dal state General Secretary Harjinder Jakhu told newsmen today that the SAD activists will hold demonstrations with black bands on their mouths in the court complex on July 1 at the time of the appearance of Bira and could even court arrests.
Three lawyers belonging to Human Rights Commission today urged the court to instruct to police to produce Bira during working hours as police had produced Bira in the court earlier at 0700 hrs and 0820 hrs. He was brought to court at about 1130 hrs today.
Meanwhile, SSP Jalandhar Ishwar Singh has strongly denied the charges of SAD(A) president that police was not allowing anybody to meet Kulbir Singh Barrapind alias Bira, who was deported from the US in connection with several criminal cases and said his father and brother were in touch with him.
