Kashmir situation discussed with top Army, security brass
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) In the backdrop of increasing infiltration from across the border, the top brass of the Army, para-military forces and intelligence agencies met here today to take stock of the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
Presided over by Home Secretary V K Duggal, the meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen J J Singh, among others.
Both Mr Duggal and the Army chief had returned from Kashmir last week.
According to Defence sources, the meeting also discussed whether the Army strength should be raised or the number of para-military forces increased in the state.
Ways to enhance coordination between the Army, the para-miltary and the police were also discussed, sources said.
The meeting comes in the wake of Pakistan Prime Minister Gen Pervez Musharraf's new formula of de-militarising Kashmir as a lasting solution to the decades-old problem.
