Japan's Hitachi launches highest resolution plasma TV in India

New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Hitachi Home Electronics, a susidiary of Japan-based Hitachi Ltd, today launched its 42-inch plasma television, with the highest 1024x1080 pixel resolution, targetted at the high-end premium segment.

''The product, world's highest resolution 42 inch plasma television, is a symbol of company's commitment to innovation.

It is being launched concurrently in India and the rest of the world,'' Hitachi MD T Nishiuchi told reporters here.

Priced at Rs 2,00,000 per unit, the 1080HD 42" ALiS, offers a remote-controlled swivel stand, 10 built-in speakers with a 31 Watt sound capacity, high luminance and increased screen life with high-on design features.

''With the introduction of such products, we hope to capture 20 per cent, 10 per cent, 30 per cent and 15 per cent of the plasma television, LCD television, DVD camcorders and LCD projector markets respectively,'' Hitachi Country Head Tarun Jain said.

There has been a phenomenal increase in sales of television units in East India, he added.

Present in India since Decemeber 2003, the company is also planning to launch a range of products including Plasma and LCD TVs, Projectors, DVD camcorders and home theatres.

Hitachi Home Electronics is also targeting a 20 per cent share in India's high-end consumer electronics market by 2008 from the present 17 per cent, besides doubling its dealership base to 300 by 2006.

The commercial for the 1080HD tv will also go on air from today.
