Insurgency not peculiar to Jharkhand: Chief Secretary
Ranchi, Jun 28 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Secretary M K Mandal today said with naxalite movement plaguing the state, the government would pursue developmental projects mainly in two sectors-- industries and agriculture.
Expressing concern over the CPI(Maoist) activities, Mr Mandal admitted that sixteen districts of the total 22 in the state are naxalite-dominated.
He said many neighbouring states of Jharkhand besides Maharashtra were also affected by anti-social elements.
Talking to newspersons the Chief Secretary said however, the situation was not peculiar to Jharkhand alone and hence developmental projects could not be allowed to go haywire.
He said the government had taken initiatives to improve its economy agenda and was now actively working out plans to undertake agro-based industries.
While terming the militant activities as national problem, Mr Mandal said to enhance the states progress, the government was carrying out effective policing system.
Moreover, the government wanted development to take place in every nook and corner of Jharkhand so that the villagers come to know about various welfare schemes taken up for them.
