Fresh batch of 1999 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Jammu, June 28 (UNI) A fresh batch of 1,999 pilgrims left today for the holy pilgrimage to Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir amid tight security.

The group, which left from the base camp of MAM Stadium here at 0500 hrs, included 1,442 men, 317 women, 49 children and 191 sadhus, officials said.

Despite threats and attacks from militant outfits, a large number of pilgrims que up for their 'darshan' of ice lingam of Lord Shiva at the holy cave in the Himalayas.

The pilgrims left in a fleet of 60 vehicles, 41 buses, 19 light motor vehicles and one truck from the stadium.
