Five labourers killed, 7 injured as truck overturns

Surat, June 28 (UNI) Five labourers died and seven others injuried when a truck in which they were travelling, overturned at a village near Uchchal, 100 km from here.

Police sources today said the incident occurred yesterday. The truck, which was fully loaded with sand, was travelling to Dhuliya in Maharashtra from Bharuch. The truck driver, after seeing a parked tempo in the middle of the road, tried to evade it but lost control and overturned. Some labourers, travelling atop the truck, fell down and died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Manoj Rajput (27), Latif Mansuri (45), Balu Bhil (24), Jeevbau Dharma (22) and Babu Kohli (19), the sources said.

The injured, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered by Uchchal police station and further investigations are on, the sources added.
