Emigration chief shunted to parent cadre

New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Senior IPS officer R K Singh has been removed from the post of Protector General of Emigrants as part of "cleaning up" operation at the Emigration department, it was officially announced today.

He will now go back to his parent cadre in Himachal Pradesh, Overseas Indian Affairs (OIA) ministry sources told UNI here today.

Mr RAnbir Singh, Director at the OIA Ministry, will hold temporary charge of Protector General of Emigrants. He belongs to the Haryana cadre of the IAS.

Sources said the "cleaning up" operation at the Emigration department has started recently following allegations of corruption.

Accordingly, the Protector of Emigrants at the Emigration office at Thiruvananthapuram was suspended and a few changes made in Chennai and Mumbai.
