DMK Govt will not complete full term: Jaya

Chennai, June 28: AIADMK supremo and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today claimed that the DMK Government in the state would not complete its full term.

Speaking at a function at suburban Velacherry, she said even the revenue and police officials at the higher-level of the state government, DMK MLAs and its cadres were not confident that the present government would complete its full term. The AIADMK also held the same view, she said.

Stating that her party would have a better future, she appealed to the party workers not to get disheartened over the party's defeat in the recent Assembly elections.

Criticising Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for his ''opportunistic politics,'' Ms Jayalalithaa said whichever front formed the coalition government at the Centre, Mr Karunanidhi saw to it that his party (DMK) was also in the coalition and got ministerial berths for his relatives and benefitted in a big way.

During the NDA rule at the Centre, Mr Karunanidhi made his nephew late Murasoli Maran and a few others as Union Ministers, she added.

Inspite of enjoying power now with the Congress-led UPA government, Mr Karunanidhi was attempting to form a Third Front with the help of other major constituents of the UPA and the Left parties, she charged.

She alleged that though Mr Karunanidhi claimed that he met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi during his recent visit to New Delhi, he had actually met CPI(M) leader Harkishan Singh Surjit and expressed his willingness to join the Third front.
