Delhi witnesses hot, humid day

New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) After yesterday's pre-monsoon showers, Delhi today witnessed a hot and humid day with the relative humidity touching 86 per cent.

The Meteorological department said the same conditions are expected to prevail over the next 24 hours.

While the maximum was recorded at 34.7 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal the minimum was 24.4 degrees, five degrees below normal.

The Met office said about 17.2 mm rains had been recorded till 0830 hrs today.

It predicted the arrival of monsoon as ''per schedule'' on June 29.

Generally cloudy sky with rains or thunder showers is forecast for the next 24 hours. The maximum is expected to touch 35 degrees Celsius.

The showers had brought much needed relief to people who were reeling under sultry conditions over the last couple of days.
