Congress to stage 'dharna' against Nitish government
Patna, June 28 (UNI) The Bihar Congress today announced to stage dharnas against the Nitish Kumar government for 'patronising hoarders' which led to hike in prices of essentials.
Congress legislative party leader in the state legislative council Dr Mahachandra Prasad Singh told reporters here that the copies of posters released by the JD (U) recently comparing hike in prices of commodities since installation of the UPA government were intended at 'defaming' the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre.
He claimed the NDA goverment in the state had miserably failed to implement rules and regulations enshrined in the Essential Commodities Act or Essential Services maintenance Act.
He said the party would organise dharna at block level on July 3 and at district level on July 10 for 'dispelling misconception' about the price rise and expose the Nitish Kumar government on this count.
He said the Nitish Kumar government could have slashed the state taxes following rise in prices of petroleum goods to provide relief to the lower and middle classes.
