Chandigarh's Shiva Sangwan upset top seed Parul Verma

Gurgaon, June 28 (UNI) Chandigarh's Shiva Sangawan created a major upset as he stunned citymate and top seed Parul Verma to move into the semi finals of under 16 section of the National Academy Tennis Super series here today.

In an all Chandigarh quarter final, Shiva overwhelmed Parul 6-1,6-3 while Subhash C Rao of Delhi stopped the dream run of Vedant Kapoor 6-2, 6-4.

Sixth seed Kaza Vinayak Sharma (Andhra Pradesh) beat qualifier Rohit Bisht 6-3, 6-2 in the last quarter final. Seventh seed Suraj Desai (Gujrat) ended the winning strear of Gurmohit Singh(Punjab) with ease in straight 6-2, 6-1 to complete the last four lineup.

However in the girls section, seeded players had it easy as they moved into the semi finals.

Top seeded Tanvi R Shah (Maharastra) beat seventh seed Aishwarya Aggarwal in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 while third seed Grima Vatwani beat 8th seed Andhra player Mohana Sai Madhuri.

In the other two quarter finals Deepna Vazirani(Maharastra) stopped the wild card entrant Renuka Keswani in a marathon match, lasting about three hours 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 while M Divija the second seed had no trouble making it past seed six Rishika Sunkara 6-4, 6-1.
