Canara Bank reports Rs 1,343 cr profit, pays Rs 198 cr div to govt
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Canara Bank today reported its highest ever net profit at Rs 1,343 crore for this year, up 21 per cent from the previous year, attributed to its top line growth.
The bank has declared a dividend of 66 per cent, the highest since it went public in November 2002, as compared to a 55 per cent dividend declared for the previous fiscal.
The Government of India is a major shareholder of the Bank with 73.17 per cent.
Canara Bank CMD M B N Rao handed over a cheque amounting Rs 198 crore as dividend for the financial year 2006, to the Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
