Bihar govt for new rules to check unplanned growth of city
Patna, Jun 28 (UNI) Bihar Urban Development Minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey today said the government was considering new rules to regulate construction of buildings in the city in view of recent collapse of Vaishnavi apartment here.
Mr Choubey said that a provision of ten years imprisonment for the guilty builders was being made in the new law to be framed.
He expressed concern over mushroom growth of apartments and said that the files of the apartments had been reopened to assess the extent of irregularities and malpractices committed by the builders.
He said several builders had encroached upon the roads and government land causing inconvenience to the common people. The encroachers had even grabbed drains which resulted to the waterlogging of the city, he added.
