ASI suspended for molesting foreigner in train
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, June 28 (UNI) Crime branch assistant sub-inspector Upendra Mishra, who was arrested yesterday for molesting a foreigner in the Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express, was suspended and a departmental inquiry initiated against him, police said today.
The railway court at Raipur granted him bail. The ASI posted here was charged with travelling without ticket and molesting American citizen Brijet Hans while travelling from Tatanagar to Nagpur in the three-tier AC coach on Monday night.
The Government Railway Police has summoned the ticket examiner of the coach for recording his statement.
Meanwhile, a police team left for Bhopal to record the statement of the victim, who is an employee of a non-government organisation working among the victims of 1984 gas leak disaster.
