About 40 per cent polling registered

Machilipatnam, June 28 (UNI) About 40 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in local body elections at noon in Krishna district.

District Joint Collector and Returning Officer S Suresh Kumar told uni that polling in two booths in Vatchavai Mandal and one in Mylavaram mandal was stopped due to some disturbances.

He said additional forces were sent to these polling booths to resume the polling.

In Varahapuram in Kalidendi Mandal the voters boycotted the polling to protest against the long pending unsolved drinking water problem.
