Vijaya Bank achieves record credit deployment in Dharwad

Hubli, June 27 (UNI) Dharwad district lead bank Vijaya Bank has achieved a growth of 144 per cent in the total credit deployment in the district.

Revealing this at a quarterly review meeting here today, Bank Deputy General Manager Dineshchandra Hegde said by March 2006, a total Rs 1,099 crore credit had been deployed against the target of Rs 7,693 crore.

He said while priority sector advances registered a record 103 per cent with disbursement of Rs 590.65 crore as against the year-end target of Rs 573.78 crore, the credit flow to agriculture touched a record Rs 231.18 crore, registering 124 per cent, as against the year-end target of Rs 185.97 crore.

The crop loans being the major activity under agriculture, the disbursements were Rs 148.78 crore as against the target of Rs 140.13 crore, registering 105 per cent, he added.

Mr Hegde said similarly credit flow to other priority sectors also recorded an achievement of 91 per cent with credit disbursement of Rs 300.84 crore as against the target of 330.91 crore. The bank had also issued 69,527 Kisan Credit Cards and had linked 2,424 self help groups disbursing loans to the tune of Rs 10.56 crore.
