Superleague phase of IOB-YSCA tourney from tomorrow

Chennai, Jun 27 (UNI) The super league phase of the 37th All India IOB-YSCA trophy limited overs cricket tournament would be held here from June 28 to July 2.

Outstation teams including SBT Trivandrum, DTDC, Bangalore, Vijaya Bank, Bangalore, would vie for honours for a place in the super league for which Kochi Refineries, India Cements ''A'' and Chemplast Sanmar ''B'' have already qualified.

The Semifinals would be played on July 1 and the day-night final on July 2 at Maayajaal grounds on the outskirts of the city, YSCA organising Secretary M S Gurumurthy told reporters here last night.

Coloured clothing, black sight screen, white balls and third umpire facilities would be the significant features of the semifinals and final.

The winners of the tournament would carry home a purse of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up Rs 15,000. Cash awards would also be given to best batsman, best bowler, best all-rounder, player of the semifinals and the player of the final.

Mr Gurumurthy said IOB was sponsoring the tournament for the first time and hoped that the bank would continue it in future also.
