Snow in Chamba district and widespread rains in HP
Shimla, June 27 (UNI) The high altitude areas of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh experienced a fresh spell of moderate to heavy snowfall last night, while widespread rains were reported from other parts of the state during the last 24 hrs.
The Saach Pass and Manimahesh in the district experienced another spell of fresh snowfall last night and official sources said Pangi valley continued to remain cut off from Chamba.
The pilgrims' trek to Manimahesh in the district has also been called off after the area received heavy snowfall last night and people have been advised not to undertake the journey until the weather improved.
Heavy rains have been reported in Kangra district of the state with Dharamshala and Palampur receiving 111.8 mm and 100.3 mm rain respectively till 0830 hrs, while Shimla had received 47.8 mm rain till 1730 hrs.
Guler in Kangra district and Bilaspur also received 28.5 mm and 28 mm rain respectively during the last 24 hours and met office said these were pre-monsoon showers and inspite of late arrival, the state has received good rainfall this year as compared to last year between June one and 27.
Observing that conditions were favourable for further advancement of monsoon in the region, the met office said it had now advanced up to Lucknow and Varanasi.
