Six dacoits arrested, arms seized in Jalna

Jalna, Maharashtra, June 27 (UNI) Police today arrested a six-member gang of dacoits here and seized arms and ammunition and other materials worth Rs 3.77 lakh from them.

Acting on a tip off, a police team nabbed the dacoits who were heading for a robbery.

Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Prasad told UNI the dacoits during the initial investigation confessed that they had entered Jalna after breaking into a house in the neighbouring Ahmednagar district.

Six live cartridges, country-made revolvers, a pistol and other sharp weapons were recovered from them. ''We are investigating the source of arms to these accused, since it was an unusual seizure by our team in the region,'' Mr Prasad said.

All the accused are in their 20s and have been identified as Vikas Mahadeo Badje (24), Yuvraj Jadhav (20), Gokul Gadekar (22) all residents of Patoda in Beed district and Jaysing Tak (22), Yuvaraj Wanve (23) -- residents of Malsanghvi village in Jalgaon district.

An offence has been registered against them under relevant Sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.
