PM extends tenure of CFTRI Director by another 5 years
Mysore, June 27 (UNI) The tenure of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) Director V Prakash has been extended by another five years.
Informing this to reporters here today, Dr Prakash said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was also the President of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), had granted approval for the extension of his tenure till 2011.
Stating that CFTRI had adopted various measures to improve the quality of food research, he said it had not only taken the advances in food technology to urban populace, but also rural.
He said CFTRI had more than 1000 patents now and planned to continue its research and technology work on many products, including pulses. It was also working on increasing the shelf life of mangoes as there was great demand for the fruit in many countries.
