Nine held in gangrape case at Beed

Beed, Maharashtra, June 27 (UNI) Police today arrested nine members of a gang of suspected dacoits for allegedly raping a 35-year-old married woman at Shelke-Vasti locality of Upli village in Vadavani tehsil of this district on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) J S Tambare told UNI, a gang of 10 to 12 dacoits entered the house of a labour at Shelke-Vasti at Upli late at night and beat up the family members, including the husband and his children before raping the woman alternately at the nearby ground.

The dacoits also looted valuables including jewellery and cash worth a few thousand rupees from their house, the police added.

The victim, a farm labourer, orginally hails from the neighbouring Osmanabd district, the police sources said.

An offence has been registered u/s 395, 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Dindrud Police station against the nine accused, Mr Tambare said.
